Has anyone put on the aftermarket 15x7 trim rings (made in China). I bought some because I have FW wheels not YH wheels. The front rings are "walking" on the clips and cutting the valve stem. It is a good scam to sell the whole set for $79 then get mad at them to pay $350 for GM set! AAAAARRRRH! :mad: :mad:

They are from a major parts supplier whose ad reads "Quality made in the USA" when the rings are clearly stamped made in China on the back! :mad: :mad:

Since you're in the central valley try giving Jim Dyer a call in Stockton to see what he carries. I have several sets from him that look and work nice.

I also have put a drop of clear silicone under the clips where they meet the rim to keep them from moving. This works well and they come right off if you need them to.

Hope this helps;

I have a set of repro rings with the 4 retainer original style clips. They are slightly thinner than original but otherwise they look/function great. Never had any issues with them. They realy bite down hard on the rims in my experience. Nothing on them that I could see that said "Made in ???"

If you want to know the vendor, send me an email.

I've bought good repro rings from Rick's and I've sent some back to Summit. I've also sent other stuff back to Rick's. I keep buying from both as well as other vendors because I've found that they all have parts that I may disapprove of from time to time. I always inspect them closely and install them promptly in case there is a problem. Stuff happens, send them back.

I have never had a problem with returning an item from Jeg's, Summit, and especially Rick's. I will say I have seen very poor quality from a lot of the suppliers to Jegs and Summit, and much better prescreening of parts at Rick's. Plus, Rick's will tell you up front in their catalog with some items not being up to the highest standards, but the best they can do presently until another supplier is found.

Thanks for the replies (especially Vintage with China TX). I bought new trim rings at Wheel Vintiques here in town. They actually have the correct style with the correct lock. Only $80 per set if anyone needs a set. I suggested that they should wholesale to Rick's, D&R Classic and all others. They told me that they do sell to them. Go figure. If good products are available why would any dealer sell junk? Does a few dollars either way keep any of us from buying the best we can? smile.gif
