Anybody running these?? Comments?

I want to mount them on 17x8 ralleys for an orginal look but modern day performance. The only available back space I have found is 4 1/2".

I want to run the same on all 4 corners for rotating reasons. I plan on lots of smoke generating sessions from the rear wheels. My car currently has 215/70/15's so these would be just a hair shorter.

What you think? Has anyone actually run this set up on a 69?

An 8" rim is kinda big for a 225...(225 is a perfect size for the front.) and U might reconsider keeping them all the same size... a 255, 265, or 275 will fill the rear wheelwells way better.

Sort of but not really.

68 to 82 Corvettes all came with 15x8's. Up until 78 they were fitted with 225/70-15's.

Yes I was toying with going larger in the rear, but really want to stick with a oem appearing stance.

I kinda wish my 255 rears were a lil taller...

The the fronts, I run a 225 on a zero offset 7" wheel (3.5 bs) on a drum brake car. The 4.5 bs 8" on a disk car should be good. course 69 wheelwells a lil different than 68, too.

****EDIT**** CORRECTION, my 16x7 Cragar SS front rims are 3 7/8 bs!! Sorry!

I run chrome 16" rallye's with 225/55 fronts and 245/50 rears. The front and rears have the same OD. This way I can use the spare on both the front and the back and not upset my 9" TrakLok. I have Firestone SZ50EP's, because they are unidirectional tires I can't rotate them anyway.

Ok how about 235/45/17 in front and 245/40/17 in the rear? This would be a shorter set up and I'm not sure if I want to go shorter. Width wise I'm sure it would be cool.

WOuld I need more than a 4.5 bs for the rear?

These again would be mounted on 17x8's frt and rear.

8" with 4.75 backspace is ideal (centered in wheel well) but a 4.5" is fine, pushes the rim just 1/4" more to the outside which you have some room to give because you aren't pushing the maximum size so you'll be safe.
As for 235/45 front and 245/40 rear, thats not good, your front tire will be 25.3" in diameter, while the rear would be a small 24.7", we are talking .6" smaller than the front!!! I recommend using a 245/45 (25.7" tall) or 255/45 (26" tall) in the rear.

I would love to see picture of a 69 Camaro with 17" ralley's, I'm considering the same for my car. The 225 - 245 front/rear is what I also had in mind for semi factory look with modern performance for my novice-touring machine

Thanks JamesD!!! Your car looks great, just the look I'm after. For RadD's and my benefit would you confirm the rim and tire size, any fit problems, and the improvement in how that bad boy handles over your prior setup.

I recommend using a 245/45 (25.7" tall) or 255/45 (26" tall) in the rear. OPPS!! I mis spoke I'm looking at 235/45/17 & 245/45/17 BF Goodrich Traction TA with dias. of 25.4 & 25.7 respectively. I'm not totally sure I want to go that dia. it may be to short. Now I'm runing a 215/70/15 and it fills the wheel well nicely, that's why orginally I was thinking 225/55/17 all the way around, at a ht of 26.8, which is the same dia as I've got now.

JamesD, Does the wheel picture in the top picture have a beauty ring in that photo?

Here are some pictures of a 69 with the 17" billet rallye wheels I found on E-Bay. Don't know the backspacing, but the tire sizes are 275 40 17 on rear and 245 45 17 on front.

69rad, the 17" billet rallyes don't have trim rings. Take a look at Wheel Vintiques catolog.

The pictures posted by James D appear to be the billet rallye wheels with a powder coated center.
