Have a chance to pick up a set of 17" irocs w/tires. Wondering what is the maximum size tire I can put on the rims without rubbing issues? I assume the 17's will work on a 1st gen. I searched a saw a few with them on.

It really depends on the width and backspacing of the rims.

Typically 17x9.5 w/ 5.5 inch backspace can fit 275s, may have to roll fender lip, in the rear and 17x8 w/ 4.75"-5" can run 245s up front. Always best to measure first, or in your case install wheels and see what kind of clearence you have before ordering tires.

I have 225 and 255/45's on my car now AND wished I would have found 50's instead!

And maybe even 55's b/c the sidewalls to me are kinda thin, imho, is all.

But I'm finally a converted "old-school" guy that's used to seeing E-60 and GREAT BIG L-60/14's on my car...
