hey my oem balancer for the 350 is in shambels, i have a 283 balancer, that is the same weight(8lbs) and diameter as the oem but i also have an 8" balancer from a 350 chevy but it weighs in at 11-12lbs, which one would be best to use?, if i dont find the original sized in few days.

If I remember right, my 350SS came w/ the big heavy balancer on it because it was the same size as the one I put on the full boat 409 my built years ago. pdq67

will it hurt anything to use the 8'350 balancer in place of the original 6 3/4 balancer? thanks

You will need a differnt timing tab. Other than that it should work fine.

Depends what your looking for but the lighter one will let your engine rev up quicker. Just a thought!

Go with the 8". David Vizard and GM recommend the larger dampner. David's Perf Engine book says he dyno'd many combo's and the larger dampner allowed more HP due to maintaining better ignition and valve train stability.
