I am looking at adapting a crossfire injection system to a 78 Elky I built. I have everything I need except the computer. Does anyone know if a standard computer will work or do I need a computer that only came on the crossfire injection cars? Also same thing with the wiring harnass. Any other tech tips would be greatly appreciated.

I guess the most important question would be why? I've got an 82' Z28 with cross-fire, and I'm pretty familiar with it. Why not save yourself a bunch of time and headaches and just go with an intake and carb setup? Not only would that be cheaper, the cross-fire had several flaws, the most notorious being their tendency to catch fire. I've only seen a couple in the junk yard, but they were all burned up. It just wasn't a very good idea, an open spray of gasoline + overheating = bad news. Thats why they nixed it and went to Tuned-port after 83'. Performance wise, they aren't as good as TPI, and they were only rated about 10 horse over the same 4 barrel 305's that were also made that year. It's just a big headache, trust me, you're probably better off without it, even if it were given to you. I've also had problems getting it to idle right, among other things. They didn't call them cease-fire injection for nothing.......KZ

I had thought that it would look like a pretty decent setup if I could get it running without costing me a mint. Thanks for your thoughts. Any others?

I had it on an 84 corvette, it ran pretty good but not as good as a tuned port. I've read the ports are very small. I think there is a difference between the 305 Camaro manifold and 350 Corvette manifold port size, but don't hold me to it. Do you know which engine it came off of?
I think any throttle body computer can run it, but you need the right chip.
If you do run it you need to stick with a very low end cam.
I'd look for a tuned port setup.

I have also thought of converting it to a dual quad setup. Any thoughts on this and if there are some adaptor plates or what has to be done with it to get it to properly accept carbs? I'm really open to suggestions as I haven't committed myself to using it in any configuration just yet.

Sorry, I don't know if it was off of a Corvette or not. I have the numbers off it but I don't have any book to decipher the numbers.

I talked to a guy that had that cross-fire manifold and had some Offenshauser plates on it that adapt it to carbs. It actually raises them up and over to the opposite side which sould increase the height too. Check Offenhauser to see if they are still available. Otherwise ditch the cross-fire and go for amn edelbrock cross-ram. They're on Ebay every once and a while pretty inexpensive.

Take a look at the ports on the manifold. Do they look small? What is the height and width of the ports where they meet the heads?
