hey guys i just put in my rebuilt m-20 and it is grinding going into second and grinding on the down shift to second any suggestions thanks jeff

Sounds like the second gear synchro is worn. Was it replaced during the rebuild? If the other gears were also grinding then I would suspect something else, but this is classic case of a worn synchro.

this tranny is suppose to be fully rebuilt and it seems to be getting a little better does this ring a bell to any one thanks

the gear could be worn. if the gear is worn on the side where the syncro engages it than even a new syncro wont beable to do its job. Does the tranny pop out of gear on its own while cruising and let of gas.

did you use the right gear oil too. The wrong gear oil can cause probs. too.

Jeff,
Make certain that your clutch is adjusted correctly. It should have about 1" of "free play" if adjusted properly. If it is not disengaging properly, it can cause hard shifting.

Iused havoline 85-90 gear oil .Ihave not driving it much the throw out bearing come apart and had to replace it.jeff
