Was it replaced during the rebuild? If the other gears were also grinding then I would suspect something else, but this is classic case of a worn synchro. 68 redcam Sep 3rd, 01, 09:47 AM this tranny is suppose to be fully rebuilt and it seems to be getting a little better does this ring a bell to any one thanks Joekool1234567 Sep 3rd, 01, 11:33 AM the gear could be worn. if the gear is worn on the side where the syncro engages it than even a new syncro wont beable to do its job. Does the tranny pop out of gear on its own while cruising and let of gas. Joekool1234567 Sep 3rd, 01, 11:35 AM did you use the right gear oil too. The wrong gear oil can cause probs. too. BillK Sep 3rd, 01, 04:25 PM Jeff, Make certain that your clutch is adjusted correctly. It should have about 1" of "free play" if adjusted properly. If it is not disengaging properly, it can cause hard shifting. ------------------ Bill Koustenis Owner Advanced Automotive Machine Waldorf Md 1971 Chevelle "Heavy Chevy" original owner 1973 Z-28 ..one family car...Brother bought it new in 73 68 redcam Sep 4th, 01, 04:26 AM Iused havoline 85-90 gear oil .Ihave not driving it much the throw out bearing come apart and had to replace it.jeff |
