I inherited a set of vintage Mickey Thompson Valve covers with my car. I love the look, but I'm tired of the oil mess. Can you guys help me save em?

Both are punched, with the type of hole that you put something in it, and turn it a quarter turn to lock it. Drivers side has this big chrome thing, with a pcv valve pulgged into it. (see picture) Pass side is similar, but is a breather.

BOTH sides are now leaking like sieves, from where the caps screw into the covers. The caps have big thick gaskets. There are bosses in the covers for baffle plates, but I don't have them. I will be punching out the oil fill boss in my intake, putting in an oil filler with hole, and running my pcv from there. What I'd really like would be to permanently attach and seal some sort of "riser" to both the valve covers, and run hose from each to the air cleaner to seal the pcv system. I'm really tired of wiping oil off my valve covers, heads, and headers. Any ideas on what to use?

I had the same problem with a set of old Holley vc's that I liked. Apparently, they use(d) an oil fill and/or breather cap that was a 1/4 turn to lock. If your breathers aren't going to be taken on/off, you might be able to seal with a bit of RTV in the 'tang openings'. I was by cleaning well with brake cleaner, putting my K&N breathers in and putting a dab of the sealer on those spots where there would be leakage from oil splashing.

If the holes aren't bigger then the standard 1.25" dia. rubber grommet holes, then just use grommets along with RTV and two newer type push-in caps that have hose pipes coming off them and hook them together the way you want to plumb everything.

Might have to grind the castings thinner around the holes so the grommets will fit if you don't mind making the covers no longer original so that you can do to them what you want to use them for..

getting closer to what I 'm looking for. As for the valve covers, I'll weld / bolt / or glue (in that order of preference) anything that looks decent, will keep the oil in forever, and I can attach a 3/8 hose to.
