I am looking for some leaded fuel to run in the first few tanks of a fresh 396 -- without hardened valve seats...
My local VP Racing Fuel dealer says it has no lead, is that typical of all racing gas now?

Some Turbo Blue grades are leaded. Go to the following link then click "Typical Properties":

Hopefully you can find a TB dealer that has this grade.
Good Luck

Thanks 1FASTZ, it appears that racing gas can be either leaded or unleaded, my nearest dealer prefers to carry only unleaded...
I had assumed that leaded would be the most common.

Around here the leaded race gas is much more plentiful, with usually at least two or three different octanes being carried. The unleaded is just one, usually rated at 100-102 octane.

I found it eaiser to call up my local Unical 76 dealer and ordered a 55 agallon drum of Competition 110 Octane. In the long run its cheaper in bulk.

I've seen fuel additives. Try a parts store or an online performance place.
Good luck getting a lifes supply. Maybe a chemicals distributor could set you up with the right stuff. Being further down the food chain.... oops the distribution chain hurts money wise.

These guys are up in Penn. Maybe a refinery knows who they sell to that markets in your area.

Additives are an option -- but there seems to be many opinions about them...
thanks,
