what is the best way to remove the choke flap, does it need to be hacksawed off?? also will you have any measurable gain from milling the chokehorn? the carb is a holley 3310 750 vac sec.

Take a small screwdriver and spread the shaft where the choke blade passes through. Very easy to do. It will slip out. Rather than milling the stack, you can go with a K&N stub stack but you'll need a taller filter element most likely. I have this setup on a 700 DP with a 4" K&N and the Extreme top.

If it's a Holley (?!) the choke blade slides thru a slot in the shaft and is held in place by the lips on the choke plate. You can drive a very small screwdriver tip ( or something similiar ) down into the slot and force it open. That way you can pull the choke blade out and remove the linkage so the shaft slides out the side. You have to look closeley but you can see where the blade passes thru. I just about gave up until a fellow at a swap meet showed me.

maross396,

depends on how new you carb is, if it's newer it's like the guys are saying here. if it's an older model there's screws holding it.

Better yet, save your time and trouble, removing will not do anything for your car except make it hard to start and drive in the winter, I notice you're in S.D., doesn't get cold there, does it? http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

notice that the area of the choke horn with or without the blade is much larger than the area of the venturiis. In numbers, the choke horn is about 3.5 times bigger than the two venturiis.

I recommend you get the choke hooked up so you can use it, you'll be needing it when it gets down to freeze-your-nose-hairs temps there.
