Anybody see this show tonight on modern marvels? It was on 7 PM PST. Check your local listings for a possible repeat. Its worth watching. It answered 2 questions that were asked on this board recently about which was the "first" muscle car and another that I posted about the origin of the term "drag-racing". There was an emphasis on the GTO but according to the show, the first muscle car appeared in the late 50's. The hemi got its fair share of time and the 70 Chevelle SS 454/450 was praised. Some good clips of 1st Gen. Camaros too. Funny, Ford was only referenced for the Fairlane trying to copy the GTO or Tempest and the Mustang never being a performance car except for the Cobra/Shelby era. They summed it up at the end by saying, "Muscle cars"- No chips under the hood, just plain muscle!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I saw it. It was really cool. Lots of old factory video footage and old commercials/promo video. They said the 70 chevelle 454 was as good as it ever got for Chevrolet. Also some cool stuff from John Delorean.

Haven't seen that one yet, but just saw "Modern Marvels" on "Drag Racing". Great 1 hour show, started with the first Ford model "T" racers and ended showing a 4 cyl. Honda(like a funny car) with 4000hp. They gave emphasis on the dragsters. I was surprised with a clear glass cylinder, that showed the rate of nitromethane a dragster uses per cylinder at idle vs. at WOT. IMPRESSIVE!
