i opened my iol filler cap on the valve cover today to add some oil, however i noticed that there was a fair amount of oil just kinda "Sitting" there doing nothing. i started the car and let it warm up since it was cold out, and i watched to see if the oil went somewhere, but it didnt, it kept on "Sitting" there doing nothing, it looks like a puddle of oil in there, and im sure if i were to remove the valve cover the oil would pour out, im assuming this isnt normal, but then again what do i know, thats why i came here to ask you guys "The Pros" what should/shouldnt i do ?

if there is crude in the motor it could be plugging up the drain holes in the heads.

it wouldnt surprise me, the previous
owner(s) neglected this fine peice of automobile something terrible. i suppose the best thing for me to do is pop the covers off, i am going to be replacing the engine but not until spring, so it couldnt hurt to pull the covers and take a look-see.

If there is a baffle you may just be seeing oil setting on the top of it.
