Is there any need to put assembly lube on the lobes or the bearing journals before installing a new hydraulic roller cam, or do you just put motor oil on it. I know that I need to prelube the engine before firing it up. I guess the roller cams need to be washed before installing like the flat tappet ones too ? Thanks, Ron.

Just motor oil.

I wash everything before putting amotor together.

Eric, You've been such a great help to me; thanks !

My parts are supposed to be here by Friday, and I'm going to try to get the cam and springs put in this weekend. I was talking to a friend here at work this morning who had a less than happy experience with a spring change on his vortec heads. Evidently his springs came with dampers also (I'm not sure if he used 981s or not) and the dampers didn't go all the way down over the guides. The dampers must have stacked up on him when he started the engine, and he bent/broke some push rods. This is something that I'll have to look closely at. I know that you stated previously that the dampers should be used, but if they won't go all the way over the guides, will I be OK without them ? My stock springs don't have dampers on them. Thanks, Ron.
