Poke "8x10 shed plans" into google.com and you'll find listings for free plans... Just how free I don't know... there are lots of plans you can order for about $20 or less like the ones here...

www.orderhomeplans.com (http://www.orderhomeplans.com/main.asp?hspos=E163NET&action=projectdetail&tid=A.1&hsgv=1&sessionid={1B66259E-B173-4DB4-8F8E-DFDC6ADFE246}&view=main&projectid=295)

I love Google! I typed in "free 8x10 shed plans". That's how I got free plans to build a train table for my son a few years ago.

Heck, use 2"x4"s and lay a gable rafter template up out on the driveway and nail them up using 1/4" plywood to stiffen them.

Then lay the walls up on 16" centers like a regular house and go!! Put whatever door(s) or window(s) and/or skylite(s) you want in her..

PS., might be time to buy a cheap, $100, 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw from HFT and a $40 Craftsman 7.5" Circular Saw from Sears?????

What a timely post. I need a bigger shed myself but can't decide whether to build an 8x10 or buy one for $200 (on sale this week, minus the shingles). Probably cost the same.

i was looking for plans a few years ago. i ended up building my own by just using contruction basics. its an 8x12. let me know if yoju want pics. its got electricity, phone, sat and cable hookups, and air. also shelving and a work desk. i think you can make your own plans just the way you want to. not hard at all.

I went through the same thing a while back...So I wound up going to Homey D's (Home Depot) and taking a few digital pics of their display model, then, just fab everything up. It's really pretty easy. Also, Home Depot sells gable roof/shed plans for about $20...Good Luck!

This time of year, they're on sale anyway. An 8x10 wooden shed can be had for $200. Then you have to factor in the cost of shingles, misc. hardware and how you're going to set it in\on the ground.... building one yourself will cost just as much I would imagine.

I built a 10 X 12 a few months ago. I went to a few shed dealers, Lowes, Home Depot, Tuff Sheds, etc... Took some mental notes, put my ideas on paper and then figured out the materials. Really wasn't hard and for the price I got more shed for my money. I was able to make modifications and use better materials.

Joe,
Where in the world can you find an 8 X 10 wooden shed for $200? Have you seen the price of wood lately? You think gas is bad try buying wood or steel. The prices have more than doubled (on some things) in the last few months. If you can show me where to buy a 8 X 10 for $200 I will go into business installing them and make a killing.

It's a regional home improvement place (like Home Depot, etc) Last Sundays newspaper. You have to get your own shingles and base. It's double-door as well.
I couldn't believe the price either! But like you, I tend to stray from the plans and upgrade things as well. My projects usually come in 50%-75% over budget anyways. ;)

I just put in an 8x8. Don't laugh but its composite (ie: plastic) made by Suncast. The thing snapped together like a model airplane in a few hours. Has its own base and comes with roof -- some landscape cloth and a couple hundred pounds of gravel is all I needed besides the shed. 8x8 is the biggest size they make though.

Sounded cheap to me at first but I looked one over real good at Sears before buying and it is suprisingly solid. Won't rust like the old steel ones, doesn't need paint or shingles, and won't rot.

Wood is probably a little nicer looking if you have the room for one, unfortunately I don't.

I thought it was a typo. Meaning 1200 dollars. $200 seems to be a good, no, great deal.

Make it 10x16, might as well plan for the future!
