I have a '68 camaro with a muncie 4 spd. The trans is out of a '65 chevelle. I ran across a drive shaft for 67 Camaro with an auto trans. Will this drive shaft work if I just change the yoke.

The drive shaft from a muncie and a powerglide or TH350 car should interchange as long as the rear end is the same style in both cars. If one car had a 10 bolt and the other a 12 bolt I think the length is slightly different, though I may be wrong. If the trans in the 67 was a TH400 the drive shaft will not fit since the TH400 is longer that the muncie/powerglide/TH350 transmissions, in that case the yoke is different too. But since the vast majority of cars were not TH400 or 12 bolts it will probably fit. Good luck.

Most of that info is correct, but some of the early powerglides used a different spline on the tailshaft than the later TH350. The early powerglide was a coarse spline and the TH350 used a finer spline. The TH400 yoke was not longer, but a larger diameter with more splines. The only Muncie trans that used a TH400 style yoke was the M-22.

The rearend yokes could be different. Some used a 1310 style u-joint and some used a 1330 style u-joint. Either way, you can use a conversion joint, or have the rear of the driveshaft modified to match it up. At our shop, and end change on a driveshaft with a balance and joint installed would run you about $95. A conversion joint runs about $35 plus $15 to install it. Standard 1310 or 1330 joints cost about $10. In the long run, it may be cheaper to fork out the $95 and have standard joints on both ends, plus, not all parts sources have the conversion joints in stock.

For instance, if you are on a road trip and end up in some isolated town and need a joint on a weekend, the local parts source may not have a conversion joint, but a 1310 or 1330 style would be in stock.
