Hey guys,

My baby ( a '83 Z28 ) is in trouble.
Yesterday I went to visit a friend. When leaving, I couldn't reverse my car. It does go forward, but I feel like I lost some power. O yeah... before I forget... It smokes from underneith the car.
I checked the oil, it is on the correct level.

Is the trans leaking fluid? Is the fluid normal red or burnt and smelly? Smoke from under the car is not a good sign.

No, it isn't leaking at all.

I've been told that the filter could be clogged. So later today I'm gonna check it.

sounds similar to problems I'm experiencing in my 83Z - same lack of reverse and low power in 1st, keep me posted on what you turn up.

I'm gonna try to remove the transmission today.. I'll let you know what I found..
