Massaging my headers a bit on my '69 and I've got poly engine mounts. My question is how much can I expect my 454 to twist when I mash on the gas with these mounts? Should about a 1/4" space between the header pipe and P/S unit be enough?

The torque will move the motor away from the steering box.I have the energy suspension mounts and tranny mount and it's very solid.

When you're under the hood and you accelerate the car via the carburetor accelerator w/your hand, how much would you say the engine moves counter-clockwise?
The reason I ask is because I had to massage just a tiny bit also at the pitman arm which would hit if I turned the wheel all the way one direction. The counter-clockwise torque twist rotation would cause this clearance that I cleared to shrink up.
Thanks, Jon

Very little. I had some contact when I had the stock rubber ones but the polys really tighten everything up. If there is a little interference, can you shave the arm a little.

Sounds good...thanks Rick. I think I'll stow the "header fitter" (of the 5 lb. variety http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif ) for the time being and wait until I actually get the beast fired up.
