If my front U-joint broke, would my convertible x-frame hold the drive shaft in place. I know its not as good as a loop, but its rougly in the same location so i'm just wondering. Anybody learn the hard way?

Toby Keen Dec 31st, 02, 02:23 AM I once had a driveshaft break and take the seat belt shackle with it. It ripped a hole in the floor about 4" x 6". This was in a 68 with no driveshaft loop. Needless to say, I put one in the car when I bought a new driveshaft and welded up the floor. When this happened I thought it was judgement day because I was strapped in the seat belt. The next year, NHRA mandated driveshaft loops. red69camaro Dec 31st, 02, 06:26 AM My exhaust runs through the x-frame too so theres not far for the drive shaft can go. But I don't go out with the intention of breaking something. I quess it depends on how hard you beat it and where the weak link is. ------------------ 69 convertible LT1 4L60E |
