I posted this in the orginal thread, but did not want it to get buried there:

For those who have not seen it:

Wow, as someone already said "what diversity".

Interesting results to this point.

JohnZ - you are the oldest (and I would say one of our wisest members).

Average Age: 36 years
Youngest: 17 years
Oldest: 59

Number of members in their:

Teens: 4
20s: 16
30s: 31
40s: 22
50s: 7

IMO, I think the low number for the members in their 50s is due more to unfamiliarity with computers and the internet than those who partake in the hobby.

IMO, I think the low number in the teens is a result of those just getting into the hobby.

Average number of years as owner of car: 7

Keep 'em coming. Hope my math was good. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, but that doesn't mean I can count http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif

No 'E' in Camaro
Nov 27th, 00, 08:19 PM
Probably not anybody else on here with my job since it's kinda unusual. I always have to explain it when people politely ask "what do you do?"

I'm an acoustical consultant, or "acoustician" when I'm trying to impress somebody. I tell architects how to make rooms sound good and I tell mechanical engineers how to keep rooms quiet from noise. My company also designs a lot of sound systems, but I'm not in that end of things. Though it's nice to have the designers around when you need advice on your home stereo system. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I got a BS in Architectural Engineering at KU (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!). I love buildings and music, but I love cars more. They always say, do what you love second best for your job and keep your first love as a hobby so you don't get sick of it. That's my plan..

Great topic and great site! I love this place!

SCR= Silicone Control Rectifier.

They are usually 1.1 - 2 meg units that run the draw works on drilling platforms.

Engines are 45-60 liters and run about 1600-2400 hp.

SCRs convert an AC power to DC, although I am working with some customers who are looking at a design using AC.

Of course this directed to you was just a joke as we can not sell into Alaska. I believe the distributor for Alaska is Cummins Northwest (Good People).

The company I work for is 50% owned by Nabors Industries (ever heard of them? http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif ),
But I don't work in the drilling rig end of the business, I'm mostly in the light/heavy equipment end as well as civil work. We had a division down in Texas City for awhile, but never could make enough of a profit, so they sold it off.

Know the boys with Cummins NW real well, deal with them on almost a daily basis.

There are some of us that grew up thru the Muscle Car Era. What Fun! Gee, that makes us 53 and 52. He's works as a night crew manager for Albertson's and airplane pilot and instructor. I was formerly a college professor of interior design and architecture - but currently work as an Executive Assistant/Project Manager for one of the largest logistic companies in the world. I was raised around cars all my life - Dad said I had to know as much as my brothers. That meant tearing an engine apart and back together again, detailing cars - rain, sleet, and snow - painting cars (hate to sand), and definitely had to know how to listen to the engine. Hubby has always loved cars too and is the expert in the family about all the details of the car. I get quizzed regularly of what year, how many, etc. etc. I'm lucky to be married to a guy who loves Muscle Cars as much as I do.

Another one for the 30's group. I'm 31 and I'm a pilot for the largest fractional ownership company out there. Meaning, you must own at least a share of one of our jets to fly with us. Also a licensed aircraft mechanic but much prefer to turn wrench on my camaro. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

Hello again,

As I posted before I am 52. I am self employed in the auto repair busness. I have been working on cars for about 35 years. We do normal every day repair, to all out street rods, resto, to putting camaro clips under early model straight front axle pickups.

I do automatic tranny's from stock to good tough 700R4's.

I have a son who is 20 and has been working in the shop with me since he was 4 or 5. He is now doing most of the tranny's, and general repair. He likes to do port and polish work on heads, and can do a perfect 5 angle valve job with stones and a pair of dividers. He and I are building the 63 Nova SS that I owned in high school.(for him) It has a Feiro front clip,(no more large round inner fender/ spring pockets) and is getting Chev pickup trailing arm rear.(don't laugh NAS cars run Chev P.U. trailing arms).

I also convert Jaguars to chevy, I have done 7 or 8 LT1 Jags this year. Makes a super car for a driver. I noticed Tee toe Jones is a Jag man. How bout it Tee Toe, have you ever made a Jag, Jag tough with Chevy stuff? I also make Fords, Ford tough with Chevy stuff, you ever notice how a Chevy engine looks good in any thing.

This will blow your skirt up, I am a Baptist minister as part time, and go to seminary part time here in Fort Worth.

So as the saying goes, I can fix every thing from heart break to day break.

And there is much more, but I'll save it.
