i just installed a new motor and trans and everything seems to be fine however whenever i shift hard i get a major squeak and its driving me nuts. motor mounts and trans mount are new and look fine. was careful making sure the shaft and yoke lined up. anybody have a similar problems? could it just because the trannys new?

Could be alot of things. May check exhaust or look for any metal that could touch when the engine twists.

is it standard or automatic? Be sire the fan belts are tight. if its standard, is it when you let out the clutch or jam it into gear? I guess its not a tire squeal, huh? http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif How long does it last?

its a tci 350 turbo and it squeaks just when i shift. there is no squeak when i punch it and thats the reason i am puzzled. if it was something like the headers, exhaust, fan, motor mounts, etc, i would think that i would get the squeak when i punched it, not just when i shift?

When you shift gears, there's actually a more torque being transferred than what the engine is producing unlike just when you stomp it. During the moment of extra torque and twist, it may move the engine, trans, exhaust just enough to touch something. It's worth a close lookover.

I would venture a guess that something is amiss inside the auto tranni, one clutch pack or band is hanging up for a second longer than it should, talk to your tranni rebuilder, and let it develop, it may go away or get worse as time goes by.
