I own a 67' Camaro RS, and I am
installing a new 383 stroker engine on
the car. I am having difficulties
locating a power steering bracket that
will clear the harmonic balancer. What
modifications can I do to be able to
clear the harmonic balancer with a
conventional bracket for a 350 block.

I ran into the same problem when installing a n 8" balancer into my '68. At the time ( 2 years ago) nobody made a braket, so I trimmed my factory bracket with a saw and grinder until it cleared the balancer. You do have to cut a large chunk out of the bracket. I maintained the original mounting locations and radiused all inside corners to maintain strength. Allow 1/8" clearance between the bracket and the balancer. If you take your time and give it a nice coat of paint you will hardly know that the part was changed.

Dan I just restored a 68 camaro with a 6.5 inch balancer. I had trouble with the alternator bracket because of high performance modifications. If all your options come up short call MARCH Performance @ 1-734-729-9070. They produce show quality billet aluminum brackets for many applications. A lower power steering bracket for a small block chevy runs about 50 bucks.
