I'm getting ready to swap out the small block out of my 67. Are the motor mounts on the small block the same on the big blocks? I just got a 454 out of a truck from a friend and it didn't come with the motor mounts. I was wondering if the motor mounts are the on the small block s and big blocks, or do they have different offsets?

The frame mounts are different between the two. Also, there is a difference between the big blk mounts of the 67/68 cars and the 69 cars.

I was looking in the parts book and it shows on the 67 that the engine mounts and the engine frame brackets are different in the big and small block. I have a small block right now. When I swap it for a big block, do I need to change both the frame mounts and the engine mounts? Or do I just change the engine mounts? I know someone's swaped motor before, I like to know what you've done to slove this problem.

So what is the difference? I've had big and small block '69 Camaros. I've put big blocks in small block Camaros. I've never had to change the frame mounts. I've also never put a big block mount next to one for a small block to see what the difference is. So what is the difference?

David Pozzi,

Would pictures of the differences between the frame mounts and motor mounts be worth putting on your great site???? pdq67

BB frame mounts, drop the motor lower, and away from the steering box.

nogo,

Don't you mean up and away or am I looking at this wrong. I will find out real soon because I have a pair of stock big block frame mounts I've got to install. I'm concerned about getting to that third nut in the frame.

The reason I got them is because I heard tooo many horror stories about header clearance problems using the small block ones. This is why I went with the 1.75 " headers instead of the bigger tubed ones. Plus, aren't the 302, SS350 and big block engine mounts taller tooo??? pdq67

Ive used the SBC frame mounts and Moroso solid mounts in a 69 I had once. The install was fine, just had the typical header problems, Here a ding, there a ding. I did also have to dent the driver's valve cover to make room for the booster. The rockers never made contact with the cover, but i could not use a cover with drip rails. Good luck...
