Thanks novaderrik Jan 28th, 03, 01:28 PM yes, but it won't be "correct". ------------------ 1971 Nova(looks like 69 camaro from underneath!) 355sb, vortec heads, HOT cam,T-10 tranny, 3.70 gears 16X8" IROC wheels. 12" Corvette brakes on the way. see dirty pics here of a car that gets driven http://community.webshots.com/user/novaderrik JohnZ Jan 28th, 03, 01:53 PM And if it isn't a '69 or later balancer, the index mark won't line up with the "0" on the timing tab at #1 TDC. ------------------ JohnZ CRG '69 Z28 Fathom Green BUD Jan 29th, 03, 06:23 AM What is the exact degree difference between earlier balancers and the DZ balancer? Is it a 10 degree difference? JohnZ Jan 29th, 03, 10:15 AM It's not just the DZ balancer - it's ALL '69 balancers; the index mark was moved about 9 degrees counterclockwise due to the long water pump accessory drive system, and the timing cover also changed so the tab moved counter-clockwise to match the balancer. Any time you see a post like "I Can't Set My Timing" or "My Timing Mark Is Off The Tab", you can be pretty sure it's a wrong balancer/right cover or vice versa. Between the pre- and post-'69 balancers, different balancer diameters and thicknesses, there are lots of different timing covers (plus all the Taiwan chrome ones), and I see lots of them that are mismatched. ------------------ JohnZ CRG '69 Z28 Fathom Green |
