I have tried to find a # stamped on my rear end houseing and can't find one. Does anyone know what size the gears where in a standard 68 camaro, I have a powerglide and 2.73 gears. I ask that to also ask. If I have a 8.2 and buy a posi unit for a 8.5 will it work if I get the gears with the unit. This is a 10 bolt rearend.
Thanks
Shane

The number stamping is located at the top of the passanger side of the houseing shaft(not the pumkin). It is probable covered with 33 years of road dirt, so take some cleaner to the top of the housing shaft and good luck.

The 8.2 and 8.5 are different.

8.5 parts will not work in a 8.2.
