I know that 1969 and newer engines had a longer style water pump compared to 1968 and earlier. Does it matter if a long style is used on a 1968? It won't put the fan into the radiator or anything, will it? To my knowledge, there is the same amount of room on the two cars. Any help is appreciated!!!

I use one on my 67, works OK allthough the fan is about an inch or so furthur forward the engine does not run hot or anything. What you will have to concider is your belts & pullies because your top pulley wheel will obviously move forward the difference between the short & long pumps.

if you put a long water pump in, you will need all the corresponding bracketry to go with it. it is a cleaner and probably better system, as al lthe belts are shorter and the accessories are mounted in tighter to the block and can't vibrate areound as much.
Thanks guys! I have to buy the brackets cuz the motor I bought didn't have any. I did get a long style water pump that I will have to sell for the short, correct, pump. Thanks Again!!!
