Well, its getting close to New Years and I was wondering what everyones plans were? Going to a party? Night on the town? Stay at home, In bed by 9? Going for a midnite cruise in the canaro? I'm opting for the quiet nite at home with the wife, New Years Eve is amateur nite, ;) , actually we have no plans...How about you ?...Mike :D

mike,

i took the new years off again. i want to stay as far away from the city as possible. one of the funniest things i saw was a few years ago at union square. people from all around came to union square to see nothing. there were no events planned yet they still came. the city built these things that i call pens. we used barricades and they were essentially just big pens to house masses of people anyway, as they say, "if you build it they will come". well, they came in herds and when new years stuck, there were still thousands upon thousands of people in these pens. after about 30 minutes of NOTHING, they all decided to start leaving but onthe way out of the area, the herds started turning over cars and setting them on fire. so, back to the question, again, i will stay as far away from the city as possible.

so mike, what are you doing?

I will be going to Chicago to be with some girlfriends that are here from Europe. It should be a fun time.

My 14yr old and her friend across the street will be hosting her 1st New Years party at our house. The wife is providing transportation for the kids when the night is over and I get to be the bouncer and all around evil eye making sure the kids don't slip any surprises into the punch...

Maybe I will get lucky and there will be a "Rides" marathon on TV. Other than that, nothing out of the usual.

Some of the neighbors spend a good bit of money on fireworks so we'll most likely be out on the deck having a cold one and enjoying the show.

That is if it warms up some by then. http://iconhell.com:8080/iconhell_sodontapologize_1905046.gif

I prefer to stay home on nights where there is a disproportionately high number of intoxicated drivers on the road. Call it a basic survival instinct if you will. For those of you who are going out on NYE, remember to designate a driver and be extra careful out there on the road.
