Just received my Cowl induction air cleaner kit from classic camaro. Question, where does the seam for the rubber seal go? I've seen them in the rear and also in the 3:00 position ( by the booster) Also is the seal glued to the metal spacer? 3M super weatherstrip adhesive OK ? thanks

I use 3M black or yellow weatherstrip adhesive. Be sure to install the rubber seal with the tiny lip wrapping over the outside edge of the flat ring. I have seen MANY MANY people install them incorrectly. The seal is frequently inside out as shipped from the manufacturer. You have to flip it before installing it. The upper lip surface is designed to "Roll" outward when the hood is closing so the top edge of the seal should look bell mouthed "outward" if installed right. Looks like a funnel in a way. smile.gif

I put mine at about the 3 o'clock position just by accident when doing a test fit. I purchased some 3M weatherstrip adhesive, but the seal fit so well that it didn't need it and my test fit turned into the final fitting.

As stingr69 noted, make sure and flip the seal before installing. Below is a picture of my cowl seal for reference.

i believe the seam goes at the back and you do NOT glue the seal on.
it should seal just fine if put on corectly.
also in the winter if you dont drive it for long periods you can take the seal off to help it hold its origial shape and thus it wil seal better.

How do you guys get away with just placing the seal on the adapter? I can get it to sit on the cleaner in the correct configuration, but just the slightest bump will cause it to fall off. Am I doing something wrong. I turned it inside out and placed the small lip to the outside, and it just barely stays on. To glue or not to glue, that is the question.

I ran mine without glue for a little while but the thought of what could happen if the engine vibration caused it to fall off and hit the headers made me consider the adhesive ;)

you guys have it on wrong then.
i have been driving and raceing with mine on for at least 6 years and it has not moved an inch.
it will not fall off......pop off ......or anything off ..........if put on right..trust me.

look real hard at that pic in the post here.....that is the right way.
you guys either have it on upside down or inside out or both.
the cowl induction flange that the rubber seal fits on has a square folded edge that the SQUARE edge of the rubber seal [not rounded edge of the rubber seal]fits on. when you have it on right it is very obvious and your gonna go ........DUH! [LOL]

i originally put mine on wrong too [inside out] and i also had to glue it on cause it wanted to fall off and it doesn't look right that way. sooooooo i went to a couple of car shows and had a couple of guys show me theres and took mine off .....scrapped ALL the glue off.....that sucked.....and put it on right WITHOUT GLUE and it works awesome........honest graemlins/beers.gif
