I've been watching quite a few Photos of several types of Muscle cars on the 1/4 mile track and I have a burning question that I really need an answer to: How come almost all racers remove their ENTIRE exhaust pipe set (mufflers and all) when racing? Anybody know?

First off it weighs 80# or so, depending on the setup. A lighter car is faster.
