I have a 67 Camaro that according to the VIN plate, came with the L6/Powerglide combination. When I purchased the vehicle, it had a 400 small block (2-bolt)/Powerglide combo. My question is which engine frame mounting brackets should be used to make the 400 small block fit? The reason I ask is that the previous owner had took an oxyacetylene torch and made the holes in the subframe oblong (and ugly) to make the engine mounting bracket fit. I fixed this by cutting out the entire area and welding in some 1/4" plate. I want to make sure I use the correct mounting brackets, so I need to find out which ones will work. The brackets I have now (that the previous owner had installed) actually look like big block brackets...they're tall and the measurements are exactly 2.5 inches wide and 2.125 inches from the surface of the subframe to the center of the motor mount bolt hole. I also need to make sure I have the right motor mount brackets because now after welding the plate, I'll need to drill the correct holes in the subframe...only have one shot, so I better do my homework before I drill.

The way I understand this is that you can fit any engine on any frame and rubber mounts!!
Six-banger included!!

But where the problems come in is with firewall/distributor/bellhousing bolt access.

Plus header fitment gets tight when not using the correct, for the year car, engine rubber and frame mounts..

The S/F holes should all be the same!! Some of the guy's have posted really good pic's of their detailed S/F's. can you do a search and pull them up and try to eye-ball the frame mounts??

I say this b/c it's going to be hard discribing the locations of the holes, or at least to me??

Are any of the holes still round and in the original locations b/c this would give you a starting point.. I can measure my BB frame mounts that I installed on my S/F tomorrow if it will help b/c my motor isn't in my car yet??

AND I have also posted the differences in the placements of the SB frame mounts as well as the BB frame mounts even though they both use the same S/F mounting holes if you want to do a search here if you think that will help too??
