Wife and I are going to take a long weekend in Mid September and travel to San Antonio, Tx. Looking for things to do...we have read about the River Walk and we will do that, any other neat things to do?

Thanks

Bob

I hope you don't mind a reply from a first timer. I have been lurking for some time now. Now to your request...

There is the River Walk, Six Flag Fiesta Texas, Sea World, the Alamo, Tower of the Americas on the old HemisFair68 grounds, the AlamoDome, Museums (one of which is a transportation museum), close to 20 golf courses, underground caverns, and much more.

You can find more info at:

San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau (http://www.sanantoniocvb.com/index.asp)

I hope you will enjoy your stay in our city.

You can drive to the Frio river, rent a tube and float down it. Very nice

Go to Lackland AFB and watch basic training recruits get yelled at.

Or just drive into the Frio river and same on the tube rent. :D

Been to San Antonio twice and this time of year all there is to do is sweat and what has already been listed.

Thanks for the info... a few more questions...

Do they have shuttles out to Six Flags from Downtown?

How about a nice restaurant near the River Walk the wife and I can celebrate her birthday at?

Thanks Again,

Bob

Yes they have a few decent places to eat along the river. You will like it. I was 12 the first time I went and the second was a town pass during basic training.

Are you driving or flying? If you are driving then think about stopping at Carlsbad Caverns in NM.

If you’re down town, the best restaurant to eat at is Mi Tierra! They have been serving very good Mexican food for the last 60 years. The web site has map, menus, ect. Great place to celebrate at!

Schlitterbaun water park. It's huge and fun. Nice scenery too, wear dark sunglasses. ;)
