Is this number on the pad in front of the passenger side head? If so, any other numbers? What is the casting number next to the bellhousing flange?

Please post back the letters at the end of the VIN number string b/c they will "usually" decode year, car, size, carb. tranny, emissions and such...

Should be something like "MO" or "CTA"..

And if it is a newer motor, they might be on a little pad that is right at the top center of the water pump pulley about in the same place as the larger pad........

My book only goes to '74/'75 so if it is a newer motor, you may have to check someplace else to decode it..

Whatever it's out of was built in Baltimore if the third digit is a "B" or from the Shreveport truck plant if it's an "8". What's the other set of numbers stamped on the pad that starts with a "V" or a "T"? graemlins/thumbsup.gif
