Lemme ask you guy's, When you open the hood, doors and trunk, is there water collected in the drip channels that need to be wiped up?

Okay that does it - off to Target (on sale for @19.oo this week) tomorrow to get one for the weekend "automotive appreciation" ritual at our house this weekend...
Wife saw an add a couple weeks ago and said "why don't we have one of these"?

I know I posted about this before. The thing really works, I too have a black car and VERY bad water. With the Mr. Clean Auto Dry I do not get a single water spot even in direct sunlight.

For those that have not tried it or bought one, make sure you pick up an extra filter and soap. The "trial size" filter and soap that comes with it is only good for a couple washes.

angel Thanks Angel ! - it was "cfunk", found it here - http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=008098 -

Sent for coupons - but now I gotta wait again :( (something I'm not real good at)...

Maybe I'll just buy 1 to "check-out" and use the coupons to buy them for gifts for the kids - yeah, that excuse works for me...

Isn't it a pain to keep buying new filters? Or does it work well enough to where it's not a problem?

The one that comes with the kit is only good for 2-3 rinses. Replacements are good for about 10 I believe... The soap is part of the process and though I don't put it in the gun I use it in a bucket of water. I've found it goes a lot farther that way...

I received my two $5 coupons this week and bought two units. Total was $30 including tax. I won't have an opportunity to use it for a little while but I will try putting the soap in the bucket as Dennis suggested.

Yes, the replacement filter is good for 10 washes "or so), this really depepnds on how bad your water is to start with. I have terrible water and I still managed 10 washes, I might be able to sneak a few more but, I won't try it. I just bought another filter.

As far as the soap thing, I use the gun but, I just spray the soap on my mitten and go for it. The soap usage doesn't seem like an issue to me. I can wash several cars on one fill-up. Sure you can probably stretch the soap a little more by using the bucket but, to me the beauty of it is not having to haul out the bucket. at that rate it would seem like all you would need the Mr. Clean for is the final rinse.

i priced the filters at taget also. it was something like $6 and some change. that is not bad. so you are roughly spending about .60 cents per wash on the filters.

I tried it last weekend on my dark blue daily driver (Mini Cooper S :D ).
After following the directions and letting it completely dry, I noticed that it left a film on the glass and paint. the film was only in some spots, not covering the entire car. I also noticed that it seems to have cleaned the Rain-X from my windows  .

After using one for a while now I'm finding if the filter is not fresh I get the same film and it's a bear to clean the windows afterwards... It just seems to smear. At first I thought I was not rinsing the soap off completely but that's not the case. I also noticed the soap leaves my hands and anything I get it on very sticky. Got some on the hose and it almost looks burnt and I can't wash the sticky off it now...

Sure works good with the new filter, though I only get about 4 rinses (I'm sure I over rinse) before they leave the film...

Maybe I'm missing something here. What's wrong with good old soap and water followed by wiping dry with a terry towel? IMO, drying the car is the most rewarding part.

neil,

that is my worst part. i have 5 cars and its not fun drying 5 cars because it takes the longest if you want to dry it without getting spots or streaks in the windows. plus, one of tmy cars is a 75 blazer with a 12 inch lift. the sun will dry the spots on there before i can get the ladder up.

Just the daily drivers, the '69 only gets a hose bath when it's been to the coast or on a long trip.

By the time I towel dry a car I have to go over it with detailer as the water dries fast and spots. The idea of the Mr Clean was/is it's a time saver. Wet it, soap it, rinse it and drive it and it works unless you don't have a clean filter... The part that is worrying me is if the soap is going to do the same thing to rubber parts as it did to my hose...

Just used it for the first time this morning 7:30am... I work midnights this week. Dark blue Y2K Silverado and its looks great. Best 15$ spent at Walmart.

Thank You My Dear Wife!! I finally got one and works very well. She asked if I'd used it and I had shown her the drying process.

She was impressed. I said "It's like watching paint dry." She replied, "Or watching corn grow."

I wish the soap rinse nozzle was a spray rather than a stream.

I bought one and it worked great - ONCE. The second time I tried to use it, the rinse spout had somehow clogged. I bought a new filter for it thinking that was somehow the problem, but that didn't do it.

I haven't heard anybody else say anything bad about them, though. Maybe I just got a bum unit?
