i changed oil pan and timing cover a few months ago.
started engine for the first time today.
I have and oil leak where the oilpan meets the timing cover.
just about in the middle of the oil pan seal.
new gaskets were used on both the timing cover and oil pan.
I torqued the bolts as much as I can .

Did you use an aftermarket pan/cover? I had a similar problem on a 327 in a '56 Belair I once owned and it took me three times of dropping the pan to realize I needed the gasket set that uses the thick front seal instead of the thin seal like my old pan used. It would have a small leak until you got on it, then it would blow the whole seal out. Also, if it is chrome, sand off the finish on the flange using parallel strokes.

Well then, check to see what size front seal you used and make sure you don't need the thick seal. Let me know what you find.

well this moring I dropped the pan and the front seal is inplace .
its not distorted etc.
its the same dimensions as the one I replaced.
I filled the gap betwwen the timing cover and oilpan with some RTV.
ill wait til tomarrow until the RTV sets up and start it again.

I've heard of that fix working. Here's hoping! I used the felpro blue one piece with good results.

Was your balancer shaft scored when you pulled it off? If so did you put a saver sleeve on it?

yeah at first thats what i thought might be the source of the leak.
I started motor climbed under and watched where it was coming from.
