here is what I got (no factory tag of course): Drivers Side Choke Assembly Body near "Holley built for Carter - Quadrajet" = 7028212 and just below that stamp is E8 DH.
Make any sense to anyone?
I would like to know CFM, Kit Numbers, tuning tips, or associated websites to tweak this for my ride.
For the folks that dont hate q-jets...is a book really necessary to tune this carb? Is it worthwhile to send it out to have rebuilt and tuned? Can you hop it up a little or are the stock adjuctments good enough for a mild street motor?
These seem rare? Couldn't find anything on the web regarding copycat q-jets...the original ones were Rochester or Edelbrock right?
Thanks

never heard of a q-jet built by holley for carter. i know rochester came out with it first-it is their design-and carter built some for rochester in the 70's,but i never heard of holley making them.is it a spread-bore holley?maybe a holley reman? i think holley did (does?) that.
the edelbrock q-jets are copies- i think they bought the original tooling or blueprints from rochester or something. i have an edelbrock RPM 850 q-jet, and am in love with it.works great. i have also had good luck with stock q-jets. they always work good for me.they are very adaptable in stock form, and should work well on a mild 350.

There's two sizes of Q-Jets that are stock. The 750 cfm and the bigger 800 cfm. You can tell the diff. by looking in the small venturi's from the bottom w/ the butterfly's open. The big carb has small "crescent" shaped "tits" that stick out that are about the size of a portion of a dime, plus the small holes are bigger by what(?), a 1/16" or something like that, but hard to tell unless you have them side by side. There are also early ones and late ones that differ slightly but still work great when right. I personally like the Q-Jet! pdq67

is this too much carb for my ride since it is going on a 350? 750 CFM is enough for a small "big block"...

the beauty of a q-jet is that it only gives the motor what it demands. the small primaries help boost the signal at low rpm and help get it going, then the huge secondaries kick in only as much as is needed to make up for the rest. GM put them on everything from 231 buick v-6 to 500 caddy, and the only real difference is the calibration.i nmy mind, they are the best thing besides fuel injection.
