I'm trying to pick up used parts to complete my 6 cyl to 350 conversion in my 68. I found a bellhousing and a flywheel. The guy had about 5 flywheels all had the same overall diameter - 14.25" but we couldn't get the bellhousing he had to fit over them (just laying on the floor). He swears it was from a small block and he also had the clutch and flywheel that were with it. Can this be?
Then I called the junk yard and the guy there thought my 6 cyl bellhousing would fit. Is that right?
I bought one of his flywheels for an 11" clutch and took it to the machine shop. He thought it was what I need and that it is in real good shape. One part down and who knows how many to go!

you can re-use the bellhousing and flywheel from the stock 6 cylinder. it will probaly use a 10.5 inch clutch, but that is plenty strong.

There is a big bellhousing and a little bellhousing for the big and little flywheels, thats all!

Nothing special at all unless you want one of them aluminum ones that don't have a bottom to it so you can change everything w/o pulling the bellhousing off the engine.

Pricy, but you can buy one of them for a couple to several hundred bucks. pdq67

If using the 11" clutch set up you will need bell housing #3899621. You can find them used on this sight in the for sale section and there is always one for sale in E bay. Just watch out for cracks and stripped threads. Usually sell for 80.00 to 125.00

Is the overall diameter of the big & little flywheels different? It sounds like I don't need the 11" clutch and could save a few bucks using my 6 cyl bellhousing but as best I remember that was a 9 or 9.5" clutch. Would my 6 cyl flywheel work with a 10.5" clutch?
