View Full Version : BBC CSI water pump + LWP pulleys?
[RyanB] Jul 16th, 02, 08:48 PM I have a Big Block Chevy with a Long water Pump..
I want to change to a CSI electric water pump, and still run my alternator and power steering off the crank pulley...
It looks like all of the LWP alternator brackets for on the passanger side of the engine bolt onto the Water pump, and won't work with the aftermarket electric water pump.
Even better yet would be to replace the V-belts with the march serpentine style pulleys & belts, running one for the alternator and one for power steering. But it looks like the alternator brackets won't work.
Anyone running a BBC with a Long Water Pump and change to an electric water pump? What aftermarket pulleys and brackets would i get?
I'm considering buying what i know i want to run, and then maybe having a machine shop custom fab an alternator bracket for me?
LarryC5 Jul 17th, 02, 06:01 AM Hi Ryan,
Try these guys. I hear that they make very good alt. brackets. I may run a electric water pump myself.

DjD Jul 17th, 02, 06:24 AM I don't have any specifics but have heard bad things about electric pumps on the street. There's been a post or two here and on the chevelle site. You might want to run a search or two.
Are you guys going to the "Bowtie Bash" Sat? I'll be out there with some of the Camaros Limited folks...

Yah, the electric water pump topic usually gets lots of responses. I want one but then again........

How long have you had the CSI pump on your 540? Mezerie recommended a 55GPM pump. CSI had recommended their 35GPM unit.

asumtoy540 Jul 18th, 02, 08:08 AM Larry,it's been on about a year. The Mezerie pump is a very good unit. The 55 GPM was not out at the time i got mine.Someone on the 2 gen site i think has one and he likes it.I have a 3500 stall convertor and a 540 ci motor and it cools great.I think alot of circle track guys use the 55 gal pump. Both are good choices.

Really?
I emailed March and they said there is no such thing!
Their reply was "Sorry, March does not have a pulley and bracket assy to accomodate an
electric w.p."
Are you running march pulleys?
Do you have the long water pump brackets still... where the alternator is on the passanger side of the engine?
Are you sure it's a march alternator bracket?
Do you have a part # for me!!!!????
Do you have a picture of it?
