Thanks for letting me participate in your forum. I know a lot of you have done this conversion. Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated. I know the motor mounts and the ac housing on the firewall have to be changed. What else should I expect, or should I stay small block. I do have an all original 69 Caprice with low miles just waiting to give up its 396. Let me know what you guys think.

This swap is a pretty easy straight forward job. The one problem that i'm hearing is that the frame mounts are getting hard to find. Other then that, you'll need exhaust, pulleys, brackets, throttle linkage, front springs, radiator, hoses, motor mounts, the list goes on. Try doing a search on this subject and you'll find a lot of info.

as bruce says it is straight forward , i got my repo frame mounts fromricks and they worked perfect, i can fit an hei with no bashing of the firewall and my hooker headers fit great,you will need to get a bb heater core and cover so you can have heat, the sb willnot work as the valve cover will pinch the hoses, the bb one comes out about 6 inches over onthe flat boss on the heater core cover goodluck

One other thing you will need is a lot of money to pay for the parts you will need to change this over.Parts like the fan Shourd,power steering hoses, all the water hoses,there are over a million small parts that you will need as time goes on. Good Luck you will love your Camaro with a nice Big Block sitting under the Hood.

Different cross member for the tranny and if it's a 4 speed a different Z-bar ..
They all add up.
But well worth it! :D

Wow! Thanks for all the replies, thats some priceless information. Any ideas where I should look for the parts to do this? Anyone have them laying around? I want to keep the factory airconditioning, can the box on the firewall be modified for the big block or do I have to find one off of a big block car? Thanks again, I`d be lost without you guys! ;)
