View Full Version : Stock fuel pump - good for how much HP on a small block?

My fuel pump died and I finally discovered that it was a high volume Mallory mechanical pumping out 9 psi. http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif Talk about overkill!!!

My future plans call for no more than a 400hp small block so my question is should I just replace the pump with a stock unit or go with something like the Holley 12-327-11? If I should just stick with a stock pump is there any particular brand to seek out?

Thanks!

With no more than 400 HP you're not going to need a massive amount of fuel flow. A stock pump would probably be enough, but as long as you're spending money get a good one. The Holley 12-327-11, Edelbrock 1721, or Carter M6900 are all good choices. They have excellent flow rates and don't require a regulator. I think you can also turn the bases to make your fuel lines clear obstacles. They're also rebuildable.

DRAT! Too late... already placed my order and they are closed.

Items like this I usually wouldn't purchase off of ebay, but I would have from a fellow Team Camaro member.

Sorry I couldn't help you out.
