: If you had to pick just one thing that you like best about the first gen camaro..
kel Apr 19th, 03, 10:08 AM what would it be?
For me, I guess I just love seeing that big bright orange Rat motor under the hood. Sends goose bumps up and down my spine every time I pop the hood! :D
sik68 Apr 19th, 03, 11:34 AM I like the 1/4 panels of the 67/68, definately gives it a broad shouldered, "Ill eat you up for lunch" stance. :purrrrrr:
choptop Apr 19th, 03, 12:42 PM I really like the body lines of the car! The slight rise on the front fenders, the slope of the sail panels and the curve of the rear quarters makes these cars look very "muscular" :D
ckaram Apr 19th, 03, 12:49 PM How 'bout I actually own one....

ummgawa Apr 19th, 03, 03:01 PM The fact that I can drive any other car (including a corvette) and my 69 gets more thumbs up and "is it for sale?" than any other car I have owned for a while. My orbit orange 70 GTO judge (sold a while back) used to get the strange stares and "cool", but my 69 Z-28 takes the cake. graemlins/waving.gif
garfield Apr 19th, 03, 03:33 PM The size of the engine well. You can fit almost ANYTHING in these babies with the "right" type of adjustments
MrDanB Apr 19th, 03, 04:13 PM I waited 2 decades to get my garnet red 69 coupe!
I think the coolest thing about my car is how fast it looks just sitting parked in my garage!
The thing has broken down several times in the past two years and I never stay mad for very long, 'cause when she's runnin' good, there's nothin' like it in the world! smile.gif tongue.gif :D
Dan
MRCOOL_RSSS350 Apr 19th, 03, 05:24 PM The part I like is that even children in strollers or 4,5,6...years old, they stop there parents to show them the car as I drive by.This is something that you don't teach a child! It is something that they do on there own and that is what I like about it.

supv26 Apr 19th, 03, 06:09 PM One of the things I like best is the graemlins/thumbsup.gif you get EVERYWHERE you go. Also, the feeling I get when I look into the garage, like a kid looking into a toy box! :D
Someone mentioned body lines.....hmmmmmm I like to go out there and just rub and polish and shine and.........well you know the feeling
Toad Apr 19th, 03, 07:37 PM I couldn't pick just one thing, that's like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. ;)
I absolutely love hide-away headlights, and the "gills" on my 69'. Hell even my ricer friends love 'em. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
The best thing to me is DRIVING ONE. I got hooked a couple years ago when my dad took me out to learn how to drive stick. It was in our all original RS/SS 350, with a Muncie and 3.73 posi. tongue.gif What a way to learn how to drive a stick...God I'm spoiled. :D Hehehe.
Snatchin'gears Apr 19th, 03, 08:33 PM Sp sp sp sp speed.
novaderrik Apr 19th, 03, 09:23 PM i like the fact that due to it sharing a common platform with my Nova, parts are avaialable and CHEAP. well, as cheap as performance parts come, anyways.
click Apr 20th, 03, 03:14 AM I dont know who has the biggest smile when we are cruising, me or folks on the street waving and thumbing her. graemlins/waving.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Its so rewarding to create smiles, kinda like payback for all the cuts and bruises on your back under the car all winter. Gawd I cant wait to fire her up soon. graemlins/beers.gif
jackr Apr 20th, 03, 03:42 AM I love the reaction that people have when I am just out driving. I get more thumbs up/waves/etc from both old and young people in my camaro's than I ever did in any other vintage iron I've owned. Oh yeah, and those 67 vent windows..........
stevo camaro Apr 20th, 03, 04:01 AM All of the above. smile.gif
MytMini Apr 20th, 03, 04:25 AM As for the car herself, it has to be the body lines. My favorite thing is to glance in the left side mirror and see those quarter panel lines. How SWEET!
The best thing about owning one is driving it, but I also really love the feeling you get when you have to tell someone that she is NOT for sale.
69lemans Apr 20th, 03, 04:43 AM Driving it, I intend to put more miles on the camaro, I drive it everywhere.
Geezer Apr 20th, 03, 04:56 AM Well considering we’ve had at least 30, 67-69 F bodies since 1967, It’s really hard to say. The first one, a base 250 L6, 3 on the floor had well over 200000 miles on it when I flipped it end over in the late 70’s.
The only repairs that had to be done on it in 20 years were the front suspension, and one clutch, brakes and tires. All of the cars that I’ve kept stock have been extremely dependable. They have also been very sturdy despite the lack of a full frame. When I flipped the first one, although the body was bent sideways, the front windshield and drivers door glass were all that broke. I walked away with only a few bumps on my head. One morning on the way to work, before daylight, I nailed a deer with a 68 Firebird. When I pulled in to a gas station to check for damage, all I found was a slightly cleaner front bumper. Then I noticed that the Brinks armored van that I had parked next to was leaking antifreeze. The grill, headlight, and airbag were all blown out. I turned to the driver standing there and said “ Hit a deer?” he said “Yeah” I said, “So did I” and drove off.. But the one thing? I guess the lack of plastic in the 67’s.
rogue68 Apr 20th, 03, 05:04 PM Its the looks, man. So, maybe I now know what a "sexy chick" feels like, with all the guys looking this car's way (but plenty of women seem to appreciate it too).
zuma Apr 20th, 03, 05:21 PM The aggressive lines of the 69, the're timeless. I get more thumbs up in this car than any other that I've owned. Every once in a while I get flipped the bird from a ricer... (that happen to anyone else?) I just wave and laugh... graemlins/beers.gif
Everett#2390 Apr 21st, 03, 12:53 AM James Bond's women and the Camaro body lines.....need I say more?
toycarlvr@aol.com Apr 21st, 03, 01:21 AM I think it's one of the best cars that expresses what the 60's and American Muscle was all about!
BBC1 Apr 21st, 03, 04:32 AM that its not as fast as a chevelle. graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/clonk.gif
Joe Harrison Apr 21st, 03, 05:17 AM Looking out over the dash and the cowl hood......................sweet!! :D
Taking off from a light or driving past someone that knows cars and seeing them drool. I drive mine everyday and it looks like a beater.............but it's a beater 67 Camaro.
Heres a picture of it. It's a little old and it has a cowl hood now.

68ragtop Apr 21st, 03, 05:26 AM Yeah, those Chevelles really ate up the Trans AM circuit from 67 - 70's
Joe Harrison Apr 21st, 03, 05:38 AM Speaking of Chevelles. I love the 68-70 Chevelles and really like the 69's. I have a 69 SS396 and what I love most about it is you can put 5 people in it and cruise. I love the 68-69 Chevelle SS hoods. The 68-69 looks are classic. Mine is Fathom Green with a parchment interior. Very nice combo.
Ohh ya Camaro and Chevelle SS wheels!! :D :D
gotta love em.

Codi Apr 21st, 03, 06:34 AM Just like any fine woman, it's gotta be the body lines. Smoooooth! graemlins/hurray.gif
Rob.Canada Apr 21st, 03, 09:51 AM Two things come to mind, Turning on the lights and getting that green glow off the instrument cluster,
The other have two six year old in the back seat and them being totaly amazed that the back windows roll down.
67L48 Apr 21st, 03, 12:41 PM I like that the body lines are so classic that they are universally appealing.
People love my car, whether they think it's a Mustang (at least 50% do), a Camaro (of varying years), or something else. The lines are classic and appealing.
Even when people look at my car and say something like, "reminds me of a '69 Mustang I used to have ... boy I love those cars" it's great -- the car is able to spark people's own great memories (regardless of whether they owned Camaros or not).
Some older cars are so disctint in their styling that they appeal to only a subset of people. Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes are the only ones that really transcend all cars ... and Corvettes have always been at a more discriminating price point.
I guess that's why I always look at Mustangs with admiration, not distaste. Sort of like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson -- great classic competitors who both deserve respect and admiration for carrying an entire industry during their hay-day.
sudo1a67ss350 Apr 21st, 03, 02:35 PM I admit it, it is the looks you get when driving. From the faces plastered to the windows of cars you pass or when you pass a basketball court and the game stops and a bunch of guys are staring. (I usually shift down to 2nd and get the rpm's up a bit to make it growl a little more) ;)

Everett#2390 Apr 22nd, 03, 12:15 AM Well done, Jim68...
The comments from older women in the facility looking at the picture of my Camaro and they commenting about the size of the back seat...........
68RSZEE Apr 22nd, 03, 03:38 AM Had three 68's in 28 years and the last RS Z for 21 years. I just love the RS grill. Another neat thing is when you pop the hood to show it to a Mustang guy.........."wana race changing plugs?" :D
Infamous Apr 22nd, 03, 03:42 AM I would say that...it looks good in just about every configuration. (i.e Pro-Street, Drag, Pro-Touring). It's the perfect muscle car.

I saw a 69 Mustang the other day, and I could not help but stare. Nice looking car.
I think the 69 Camaro is without a doubt the finest looking american car ever. The roof line, the shape of the quarters, the wonderful Shinoda cowl hood, it is the finest.
1967 Panther Apr 22nd, 03, 07:36 AM I like the look of the 67 standard front end. It's mean looking and suttle at the same time.It says "Get the hell outta my way...please!" I also like the outline shape of the nose of all 67-69's: the "wide upper, narrower lower" stance. BMW coppied the same look only they reversed it.
lil_beast_67 Apr 22nd, 03, 05:15 PM the fact that it's built exactly the way i want it. from the 4 spd to the subs in the trunk, it's my car and every aspect of its build was built by me. smile.gif
LukeSkywalker Apr 24th, 03, 03:36 PM For me these days it the deliver trucks. They keep on bringing stuff from Tremec, Summit, Jegs, ect. Is it Christmas still? I open the boxes like a 5 year old on Christmas morning. Oh wait the credit card bill is there to wake me up.
