View Full Version : We had a baby boy today......Total Excitement!
hugger_sixty_nine Sep 10th, 04, 07:34 PM Well thanks to all who have posted kind words of encouragement over the past 10 months. My wife gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby boy today and I can't wait to start sharing life with him. Man I had no idea what I was in for and this will definitely change my life for the better. It was very powerful to watch and go through the entire process with her. Mom, Dad and baby Devon are doing great. Here's a picture of him.

Nantooch Sep 10th, 04, 08:58 PM Sweet!! Big kudos to your wife and you. Keep this little tid bit for yourself, it will amaze you now and a year from now.. Say these words out loud and see what they do to you.. "I'm a Father" or "I'm a Dad". Reality is a fickle beast, but guarentee that you smile when you say em. graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/beers.gif

Richz68 Sep 11th, 04, 04:03 AM Devon is a great name he looks like a lady killer!
My daughter turned 2 on July 5th and it is as wonderful as YOU make it. It is an awesome undertaking if you pour yourself into it and I don't mean driving them to Soccer, Swimming, yada-yada.
Remember that little dude will need you to be "ON" all the time. You and mommy will be the most influential force on his life.
Remember that little Devon now will take the torch of your family name and continue the legacy that your grandfather and father laid for you. Teach him about mommy's family name and their pride as well!
It's an exciting time.... ITS BETTER THAN ANY CAR, BOAT, MOTORCYCLE, HOUSE, OR WINNING LOTTERY TICKET....

Codi Sep 11th, 04, 02:03 PM What a wonderful feeling. Congrats to you and the Mrs. Today, you stare at this child and wonder what will life bring. Tommarrow, you will watch your son perform in sports or other activities and you will be the proud father. I recalled the day the wife and I brought LB home from the hospital as he was performing in his first marching band routine at the football game just a few weeks ago. My how time flys. Enjoy the child.....care for him.....guide him.

hugger_sixty_nine Sep 11th, 04, 08:28 PM Thanks to all of you and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. This forum is not just a great place to hang the mechanical hat, but is also a great source of general commraderie. Spent some quality time with both Mom and the Baby today and was smiling from ear to ear the whole time.
Thanks again everyone. Your thought and blessings are very much appreciated. Here is a shot of Dad & Devon at the hospital before coming home. I promise I won't upload too many of these. (lol)

1NAST69 Sep 12th, 04, 07:20 AM Upload away, proud Dad! Now, I don't know about you guys, but I can definitely see that first shot of little Devon shows his left hand clenching the steering wheel and his right hand pulling second gear with the tires smoking!!!!!
Can't you see it!
Dad, you are on you're way to some very wonderful times, CONGRATS!!! My wife and I have two girls, one is 5 and the other is 1 1/2. It is absolutely fantastic. Puts a whole new perspective on life, doesn't it? And just think, a few years from now, he's gonna be handing you wrenches and helping you wash the car. Imagine that first drive in the Camaro when he's old enough to realize how cool it is! Kids are alot of work and can try your patience, but there's nothing like them.
Congrats again!!!
Mike
MCGOO Sep 12th, 04, 08:22 AM Congratulations Graeme.

Maybe see you out next year with the baby seat in the back seat of the camaro?
Wish you & your family all the best.

You're a very funny man. Had a good laugh at that one. Well things are just settling in at home as we brought the little man home tonight. I played the drums for him a bit and he loved it. Mom is getting him settled in and home has changed as we know it. (and definitely for the good)
Paul (McGoo)
Hopefully I will see you at the world of wheels in February or perhaps sooner. Fire me an email sometime and maybe pop over to see the car. You can reach me at lockitup@telus.net
Thanks again for all the kind words folks! My wife also loved reading them.

DjD Sep 13th, 04, 06:32 AM Graeme - Not meaning to sound like a meddling old lady!! Infants ears are super sensentive, loud music, power tools etc can cause hearing loss that in an infant cannot be detected very easy until the child is old enough to communicate other than crying and laughing... You very well may know this already and I know drums can be played softly too. Just thought I'd share...
hugger_sixty_nine Sep 13th, 04, 08:23 AM Yes Dennis,
Quite aware and when they are played, they are played softly. I failed to mention that he was upstairs in the bedroom when I was in the basement playing my kit. I heard him crying when I started and when I stopped a few minutes later he was quiet.
I used to play a ton when he was still inside Mom's womb and he would always kick and move when I played so I figured he must like the drums, or quite possibly hates my playing. (lol) In either case, I was playing softly just to see what his response was. My wife brought him to the top of the stair this morning where I could see him from my drum kit. I played a couple soft little rythmic beats and he was wide awake and totally observant of his surroundings. When I stopped, he cried, then I played again and he eventually started to drift off. How funny is that?
Thanks for your concern Dennis, and know that Mom keeps me in line with the level of play already.
Graeme
Nantooch Sep 13th, 04, 05:34 PM not surprised at that at all. My son used to kick when I drove up and wake his mother. He'd kick til I came in the room and said hello. Then I would tap on her belly and he would kick back in the same spot. Actually had to move away from him in neonatal so he would cry for them. He wouldn't cry as long as he could see me. When the doc was finished, he stopped crying as soon as I got near him. smile.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif
