Any suggestions on easy to use software for creating web pages? I just want to make a simple site for my Camaro.

Also, any suggestions on maximum file size for pictures? I don't want it to take all day to load.

Thanks guys,
Chad

Don't spend money. Used to use this:

In fact, I still do on occasion. It got my programming career started, circa 1997. It makes good enough pages to start with. I still use it to create forms. If not, if you are running Netscape, I still use Netscape Composer. Click on "File, New, Blank page"

Use Cardioman! Its super easy and free.

Follow the link to my page and you can set up your site in a few minutes if you already have the pics!

I'm using geocities with their "pagebuilder" software. Very easy point and click. Take a look at my page and see what a person who had never done any webdesign before can do! :D Not that I've used more than just the basics that are offered though... graemlins/clonk.gif

Thanks guys. I took JT's advice and tried Netscape Composer...you can't beat free. Found some free graphics places on the web which helps alot, too.

On the pic size. I have a 5 Mpix camera and the pics come into the computer huge in size. I've been reducing them to 400 x 300 and compressing them into jpegs (quality level set to 90). The file size comes out around 50kb. Am I in the ballpark there?

You sure are. The smaller the picture, the better and faster it is to display and download, especially for people still in the modem world. You shouldn't lose very much, if any, picture quality either.

Robert,

As someone who makes part of his living thanks to the copyright law, I have a hard time downloading things that I am supposed to pay for.

I'm not knocking you for doing it. It's just not for me. The big guys can absorb the impact but it hurts us little guys.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll let you all know when it's up so you can see my baby.
