Boys and Girls,
About six months ago I removed the exhaust manifolds from my stock '69 SS 350 as part of an engine bay detailing project. I used the stuff that Eastwood sells in the medium gray color and followed the directions to the letter and otherwise did a good job of prepping them before painting. Anyway, they are rusting through again.
Anyone know of a better way or any specific product that will work as advertised. BTW, no cheap shot intended, but this is the second time I tried some Eastwood stuff that has turned out poorly. I am looking for a better source. Thanks.

Jet Hot Coatings is one option. There is also Jerry MacNeish's business which reskins the manifolds and guarantees them. I think the site is eitherwww.z28camaro.com or www.camaroz28.com. (http://www.camaroz28.com.)

The neatest stuff I've found for stock looking manifolds is a product called Calyx. I believe Classic Industries carries it.
It comes in a small black plastic cup and you spread it on with your finger. The first time you'll swear you'll never get it off your hands but it's not too bad to clean up but it looks great on the manifold, lasts a long time and you can touch it up any time if it starts to go away. (I think I would wait for the motor to cool down though!) http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif

more on that Calyx Stuff, there is also the same brand that Classic carries, (doesnt paddock carry it too???) that is like liquid Aluminum. I used this on my stock manifolds and it doesnt burn off. it melts into the pours when the manifolds heat up and looks great. I have had mine on there for about 1 year now and it seems to be holding (also considering I only will drive it weekends / holidays/ shows / special occasions (its sunny!) you know the rule.

I also used the Eastwood product on my 1970
Corvette exhaust manifolds. I had the manifolds sandblasted and then I cleaned them with thinner. I applied the Eastwood product with small paintbrush - several coats
and it has lasted over 5 years and 60,000 miles. They still look great with no touch-ups needed. Before that I tried the Calyx with ok results but it always got everywhere
when I worked on the car changing plugs, etc.

I used a product made by POR-15 on my stock big block manifolds. Paint it on with a brush and it cures at engine temp in about 30 mins. So far so go.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your thoughtful replies.
I sent an e-mail to Jerry MacNeish. His web site, btw, is "z28camaro.com". Anyway, a photo of a "re-skinned" manifold is shown on his site. He guarantees the appearance for the life of the car and asks $175 and two week turnaround time for a pair of manifolds.
