Buying an engine just wondering if it will hit the avertised hp and torque. I may not have enough info so if not please don't bash my as i'm new to the desktop dyno stuff.
427 engine .030 over
Keith Black hyperutectic pistons (don't know exact dome size but puts the engine at approximately 9.5 1
Comp Cam extreme energy #533 with comps roller tipped rockers (1.72 ratio) (thats all I know on the cam as of yet
Heads are a 049 casting oval port open chamber with a pocket porting and been fitted with 2.19/1.88 valves
Edelbrock performer RPM intake
Holley 750 Vacuum secondary carb
Exhaust manifolds and 2-1/2 exhaust pipes
Chrome valve covers uh they'll make about 15 horses right??? LOL
Hopefully this will be enough info to get close numbers on this engine. Thanks in advance for any help

I'm not seeing a '533' cam in my comp cams catalog...if you can, find out what that is.

I was wondering also because i didn't see that grind either. They said comp cams but I believe it may be a crane cam. Probably a 280 series. Lets just say (beacause I have this particular cam brand new) A comp cam Hyd .550 int and exhaust 292 duration. 244 duration at .050 at 110 lobe separation. complete K kit with lifters true roller timing chain and springs

Ok, here's the numbers (2000-6500RPM Test):
387 LB-FT @5000RPM (315AVG)
411 HP @6000 RPM (272AVG)

You're probably saying 'those numbers are really low for a big block', and well, they are. You have one problem: no headers.

With 1-7/8" headers:
465 LB-FT @4500RPM (383AVG)
480 HP@6000RPM (327AVG)
Notice that the torque peak lowered by 500RPM, which is a sign that exhaust efficiency without headers was not sufficient.

With 225/235 .540/.550 110LDA Cam and headers:
477 LB@4500 (405AVG)
466 HP@6000 (336AVG)
Nevermind the peak values, check out the average numbers! With a smaller cam, you can get 22LB-FT and 9HP average power! Remember, in a street car, high AVERAGE horsepower and torque is what makes the car scoot and very fun to drive. But then again, it all depends on your gearing!

I know the headers will add to the horses. Problem is I haven't found a company that makes a set for a 69 BB with power steering and a 4 speed! I'd run a set if i could find a company that doesn't charge an arm and a leg then you hammer on them to make them fit. Then you accidentally flatten a tube and have a high dollar ornament to hang on your shop wall with a story to tell of why you run manifolds! I've seen plenty of BB headers for a Camaro but no power steering AND a 4 speed! I'd love to run em if I can find a fitting set! Thanks for the dyno numbers!

Hooker Headers: #2111 (1-7/8") & 2205 (2")

Both of these will work with a big block Camaro with a floor shift 4-speed and power steering. You run into problems if you for some reason have a column shift. Also, make sure you have big block engine frame stands, or else they may not fit. The 2111's are $368 and the 2205 are $389.

Thanks a lot. Which size would you go with?? I don't know how i've missed those headers as i've searched a lot to find some that would fit. I see now that thats the definate way to go for more horses!

Well, the 2" headers will give you more peak power, but your power and torque curve wont be as flat. Plus, you'll run into more trouble (fittament, plug changes) with a 2" primary tube. I think I'd stick with the 1-7/8". Make sure you have big block frame mounts!

I forgot,

Before you go out and buy some headers, I'd recommend you go email Hooker to make sure they'll fit...I don't want any cussing going my way! Ha!
Just make sure they're what you need.

Thanks. I figured since the clearance is a big issue on this car the 1 7/8 would be a more logical choice. I'm fully prepared to ask all kinds of questions and get a definate answer straight from hooker. Then if they don't fit we got a major problem!! (they get the cussing)!
