Hi
Right now my car has a 396, rebuilt to stock 350 horse specs (10.5:1 CR?). I'm looking to install new heads and a cam for a winter project. My question is, what heads and cam should I be looking at? I'm thinking 9.5:1 CR range, beause right now I get a slight knock when I really lay on it. So, what heads and cam, and what kind of power can I expect from it? Right now the motor's only "go fast parts" are headers, Holley 750 and Edelbrock RPM Performer Intake. Oh, and I don't mind a relatively large cam.

I'd like to see 450+ hp/tq if possible.

Thanks, and sorry for the long post

You really don't have 10 1/2 to 1 compression now. I wouldn't change your heads they are good ones for a 396. A cam change will help you in both respects more power and less detonation problems.

No more then a good old CC 282S Magnum solid cam will put you at 445hp just like you are with open headers per D2K..

PS., and I bet that you should be right at 10 to 1 CR. even though they are rated at 10.25..
