Correct me if I am wrong....A 350 piston is correct for use in a 302 with 6 inch rods????? Thanks!

No. Half the difference in the stroke is .250" and the difference in the rod length is .300". You will need a 5.95" rod to make it work.

I bet the second gen. 265 motor's 5.94" long powder met. rod will do..

PDQ67,
Are the second gen 265 rods large or small journal?
We are considering assembling another 302 engine and have a 327 block and a 283 crankshaft....both are small journal.
Thanks,
Chris

The 5.94" PM rods are a medium journal rod. If you have a 283 crank you can use an aftermarket 6" small journal rod, like a Scat 2-ICR6000-2000 and an SRP 140053 piston with a CH of 1.519". This would give you a zero deck height of 9.019". If you want a shorter setup, a 6.125" rod and a SRP 140033 piston would give you a zero deck height of 9.009".

hey, just another thought: If you use the TRW/Speed-Pro 350 "3-9/16 stroker" pistons (1.520 comp height) with a 6" rod they will be .005 in the hole on an un decked block. Does anybody know what these pistons go for?
