I just received my new 5" Auto Meter C2 Tach (http://hp.autometer.com/products/c2/tachs_and_gauges/tachs_and_gauges.html) It is bigger than I expected it to be. I was going to mount it on the column but I'm not sure that there is enough room. I'm hoping someone can tell me or show me pictures of how you mounted your 5" tach. I may have to mount it either under the dash or on the floor ahead of the shifter.

I have my 5" Autometer tach on the steering column just in front of the gas gauge just on the right of the steering column. Use a big hose clamp, it's not the prettiest way to mount it but it'll work

I could't find a spot either, took me about 2wks to come up with a location. My car has a/c(not working)so I took some aluminum pipe(maybe half in.)flattend one end stuck it through the center a/c vent bolted it to the bracket that holds the speaker. Bolted the other end to the tach.Don't know if this helps or not. Maybe it will give you an idea good luck. John

A little off topic but I've always wondered about the pros and cons of mounting your tach on the cowl panel. I'm tossing around the idea of doing this with my 69 but can't decide. I think it gives the car the late sixties muscle car/nostalgic look. It will definitely take away from the stock look but it seems like the most practical place as far as watching the road and the tach at the same time.
Anybody want to add their views on this?

My brother-in-law has his tach mounted on the cowl of his 67. His car isn't licensed for highway use. He likes the cowl location for the reason you stated - he can see it without taking his eye's off the track.
I ended up mounting my new tach on the right side of the column. It sits in front, and somewhat below the fuel gauge. I think it will work fine there. Thanks for all your responses.
