I have a 4.5L 1988 Cadillac Eldorado. It seems to have a blown head gasket. At first I thought it was just a bad heater core then I plugged that off and it started gurgling at the back of the motor. So I'm pretty sure it's the gasket.

I heard about this fairly new product from a mechanic he said it will stop the leak in head and heater. I just want to use it to get me thru the winter then I will fix it right but I need to know that if I use this stuff it's not going to ruin anything else. Would also like to hear possibly from someone that used it and how long it should last. The price is around $80 for a bottle. Thanks

Vintage, I don't know but I'll find out.

Nova, I will when it gets warmer.

Anybody else? How about ZZ430droptop? I saw you worked at a Caddy dealer. Thanks

if that stuff sill fix a leaky head gasket, just think what it will do to all the passages inside your radiator and heater core. sure, it might patch the hole you got now, but it alos migh cutoff a god amount of coolant flow thru the radiator, as well, and then instead of a head gasket come spring, you are getting a new engine because your current one cooked itself.

The name of the stuff I remember is Iron Tite. Can be found at large truck and equipment shops. Just a temporary fix though.
