I have a 454 getting ready to be dropped into my 69 camaro. My question was can tall valve covers fit under the hood? i dont have power brakes.

You might have a problem with the wiper motor.

Yes they will fit under the hood but they will be close on the wiper motor.

Thanks for the info. Now I have some news for you. A guy in my camaro club works for a speed shop. They have replacement wiper motors which have variable speeds. They are also much smaller than the stock ones. Thank you for the info once again.

69sscamaro...

Is the wiper motor your refering to the one that Detroit speed&engineering sells, b/c I beleive thats the one Jodi has on his yellow camaro. The reason I ask is that thing is 300.00 through DSE, if you have a part number or manufacturers name and its cheaper, Im real interested. I used the same valve covers as Jodi and I had to remove the wiper motor, I also fabbed a blanking plate for it but I would really like to install a wiper motor that will fit.

Thanks Rich

Thanks. It's an 8" unit from Master Power Brakes. All in the name of valve cover clearance for the big block.

Thanks Jody. That's exactly why I wanted to know.....I plan to put a 454 in my '67! As someone else asked, is the wiper motor from D.E.S.? Do you have a part number?

Yes, that's Kyles (DSE) wiper motor. Super nice product, easy installation.
