If I get a stock 350 and put in a cam that has 272-H10-CD Energizer 11-15-94 in it will it give me good hp? And will putting in this cam make this engine a gas guzzler? 8-9mpg or will it give me a little bit more?

What are you going to do with it?

What kind of transmission and rear gears. I would think that a 272 advertised duration cam would like AT LEAST a set of 3.53 gears and if it's an auto a 2600 to 2800 rpm stall torque converter. You won't like the idle if its an auto tranmsission.

Application is the key to component selection.

4U 2 NV, I ran the 272 Energizer in a mild 350 last year... 8.5:1 or so, stock bottom end, gasket matched 291 'double hump' heads (1.94"/1.50"), 1.6 rockers, Edelbrock Performer manifold, and Edelbrock Performer 750 cfm carb
. I ran it with both a stock converter and a 2500 stall converter, and it worked fine with either. The car was my daily driver at the time, year round. It's a mild cam, so I would think it would work fine in a stock 350 and would give you something to build on. If you don't have headers, I would add them first, but you could get by without 'em.

For what its worth, I ran a best of 14.36 at 96.3 mph in the quarter with the above engine combo, the 2500 stall converter in a TH-350-C, and 3.73 gears in my '81 Camaro. That was with pretty bad traction problems... 2.2-2.3 60' times. The 2500 rpm converter made the car a monster to launch on street tires (245/60R14)... the stock converter wouldn't even spin the tires, but despite the torque loss, might have gone faster since I could flat-foot it off the line. For the whole set-up, go to www.pitt.edu/~dwd2 (http://www.pitt.edu/~dwd2) . It's Combination 2. The website is far from finished, but the entire combination is posted.

That cam looks like a Little Fireball type so should be fine, even in a 327!!! pdq67
