On the news last night they said Gas would be up to $3.00 a gallon by summer can you stand it. I drive about 65miles one way to work. This is going to be hard on a lot of people.

I saw the news story about gas prices and they floated $3.00 bucks a gallon here (California) a few years ago but this time I think it's going to happen. Another nail in the California economy coffin , by the way I read we import 63% of our oil so the big melt down is comming (can you say $6.00 bucks a gallon). Is this part of the Bush Economy ?

I might have to rethink the Power Tour thing.

First I heard of this... but am seeing it already. I drive 52ish miles round trip to work daily. <19 days then 2 off>

3 weeks ago 87 was $1.37 per gal.

now at $1.59 per gal. and climbing...

Whats the reason this time... C.E.O. raises? graemlins/sad.gif

I see pump prices all over the place here in the Northwest... $1.59-$1.89 for "reg-unleaded". I drive some 30ish miles each way to work and my gas bill is only going up and up. Pretty soon, I'm afraid I'll be getting my gas bill and the mortgage mixed up graemlins/sad.gif

Man, don't get me started on the whole gas price thing again!!

Being on the road, I haven't bought any gas in about two weeks! graemlins/thumbsup.gif That seems to make me calmer about the situation!

Seems like right after they warn us on the news about an increase, the next day the price goes up. :( This morning regular 1.69, tonight on the way home 1.74! I think the notice on the news gives gas station owners permission the raise prices. graemlins/sad.gif Maybe they all had tankers refill there underground tanks today, bought at the new price increase...yeah right!

I'm getting under 10mpg (I'll leave it at that so I don't cry) and that would make 100 miles cost me about $45.

Why do you think that I'm alway's getting on the automaker's cases about not selling commuter corn-popper cars that guys like me want to buy and drive to work in???

Heck, if you notice GM/Suzuki sold every $10,000 corn-popper 50mpg year 2000, Metro/Swift they made!! NOW check GM/SUZUKI's gas ratings after GM Americanized them!!!!!

Now the cheapest corn-popper car I could buy AND did was a new Hyundai Accent Hatch that gets like 38 if I drive it like I did the 2000 Metro corn-popper!! Running 58 to 62 easy without the A/C on for miles and miles commuting!!

AND I checked EPA's gas mileage guide once and found out that the '87 Chevy Sprint ER hatch I drove for years AND years was rated by EPA at like 67mpg!! Best I ever got out of it was 57 and that running it at 65 to 75mph for years and years right gave me right at 48 to 52mpg!!! AND I'm talking for like 200,000 miles of driving.

It dropped off to about 44mpg when I got rid of it at 227,000+ miles b/c the clutch went out..

Don't think I wasn't pi--ed when I found out I couldn't replace it!!!

1.63 today on way home

And whats with this "oygenated gas" BS, I checked my milage and have lost 2-3 MPG. Better for the enviroment, but gas bills up due to using more... so hows it better? graemlins/sad.gif

Look what happened with MTBE fuel, they change it over at our expense,.. then find out it is bad for the environment,.. then are changing back, again at our expense. I was paying 87 cents a gallon when I started driving 22 years ago. When it reached $1 a gallon we thought NO-WAY. ...
Now I filled up @ $1.49 a gallon the other day and am thankful. And don't even get me started on the smog thing!

Paul, stop posting so much and go finish that car! :D . J/K, I totally agree with you. I see no need for anymore then 4 banger for daily commute. I hate paying for gas. I know I neeed it, but it still feels like through money away. Have you looked at the Toyota Prius? That thing is neat!

3.00 a gallon !! I filled up lastnight at Sams Club for 1.50 I think. Maybe it's time for something a little lighter on fuel than my 4 wheeler daily driver. I do 50 miles a day on average at 12-13 MPG.

12-13 MPG Jack?!?!

You could get better mileage with your camaro! It's sad but true that my 69 ragtop gets way better mileage than my truck. My wifes PT Cruiser gets slightly better mileage than the camaro as she consistently see 20+ and the camaro only gets that once in a blue moon.

It almost happened again with ethanol, the govt wanted the oil company's to put ethanol in gas to save the corn famers but it will only raise the cost of refining gas and not reduce emissions, but I think they backed off of that one.

I think we need a Still. Make our own octane booster, that way the Feds.< ATF> can't come down on us?

Gentleman,

I usually fill up with a mix of premium and 110 race fuel. If it goes to $3.00 I'll just pay the extra .35 cents and filler up with 110 only!

Gosh talk about gouging

I heard the story about $3.00/gal too. THis is a Presidential election year. I (hope) don't think it will go that high. It would be great fadder for the political scene on both sides of the fence.
