i have a 454 big block and i want to put it in my camaro but i dont know what i have to do so that it will fit and what it will cost me to install it. i have a 700r4 tranny so i know it will work.

header choice would be an issue. , but it will fit. you may need to rework some wiring, but Painless sells a painless kit for it. but I dont know how long a 700R4 will hold up under a big block.

The 700r4 can be built to take some pretty serious punishment...but it takes $$$. Besides, it will probably last longer than the 7 5/8" rear end anyway.
Theres a guy running around here that did the same thing...built 454, built th350, stock rear end, no subframe connectors, etc...basically a big engine in a car not built for it. The only thing keeping the rear end alive is the fact that it spins the tires if you look at the throttle wrong...no traction whatsoever. His car flexs so bad it scares me to ride in it...feels like it is going to twist in 2 every time he gooses it.

If it is a 2.8 700r4, it wont fit, you need a V8 trans.
